Horse Barn Site Prep and Installation
Preparing your property for a large outdoor structure isn’t easy. For our Lean-To and Modular Horse Barns, we recommend using concrete footers that are 18” in diameter, 36” deep (below grade), and 2” – 4” above ground level. This prevents the building from shifting unevenly as the ground freezes and thaws over time.
Step #1: Filling in the Structure
Along with your horse barn, we will provide a footer placement diagram for your specific order showing exact measurements and placement. We also offer the installation of the footers. After your building is delivered, the area around the barn and under the lean-tos can be backfilled with crushed stone to pillar height. If you want cement in the center aisle or under the overhang, that can be poured after the barn is delivered.
Step #2: Anchoring the Barn
The best way to anchor a barn is to use a ¼” steel hurricane bracket. This bracket should be bolted to the concrete footer with concrete anchor bolts, and then lag bolted to the treated 6×6 that makes up the base of the building. This anchor system is included with your barn order.
